Heritage Manager
Full-Time Indeterminate (office in Burwash Landing)
Salary: $$67,161.71 to $95,586.75 per annum, ($36.90-$52.52/hr, depending on experience)
Overview
Reporting to the Director of Lands and Resources and Heritage, the Heritage Manager promotes public awareness, appreciation, respect and understanding of all aspects of culture and heritage, implementing Chapter 13 of Kluane First Nation Final Agreement. Their goal is to manage and protect heritage resources through integrated resource management including land use planning and development assessment, and by promoting the recording and preservation of traditional language, beliefs and oral histories, including legends and traditional knowledge.
Education and Experience
Training in one or more of the following related fields would be advantageous: archaeology, anthropology, history, library studies, cultural resource management, archives
Minimum of one year of post-secondary education in a heritage related field or significant heritage work experience in a First Nation environment
Experience in a management or supervisory role
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of KFN Final Agreement, Umbrella Final Agreement and corresponding implementation plan
Knowledge of Kluane First Nation history, culture and traditions
Knowledge of basic heritage programs, protocols and procedures
Able to work independently and as part of a team that includes individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Elders
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong computer literacy (MS Office) and organizational skills
Able to identify and successfully apply to funding agencies.]
Strong wilderness and traditional skills
Supervisory and program management skills
