FNIG Job Opportunity - Band Policy Analyst

Hello Members,

 

I am sharing an opening at xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Indian Band. As acting Records Manager and on behalf of the Archives department, I am promoting a 2-year FTE position of Records and Information Management Policy Analyst

 

About the Archives – We are a small team acting on behalf of the Band and in its interest to preserve culturally-significant records, artifacts, and histories. We also provide services to the community including digitization of personal electronic items. We support governance and administrative operations on reserve and across territories.

 

About the Records Management team – We are a small team tasked with preserving governance records, largely digitized, and implementing data security and privacy standards across all departments. We work closely with IT to develop processes to protect Chief an Council, MIB employees, and community members being served by programs. We conduct research and records retrieval according to the needs of other departments.

 

About the Role – We re seeking a highly competent individual with significant experience working with information policy laws and standards in B.C. and Canada. We are looking for a candidate with experience supporting First Nations and Indigenous organizations, communities, and initiatives. The ideal candidate is able to work in a hybrid-office setting, largely unsupervised, and conduct research to improve existing records policies. The candidate may be proficient in such areas as: real estate law, agricultural law, data security, social work, Crown and Indigenous law, Environmental protection laws, Maritime Law, and First Nations healthcare. We are seeking applicants who are legally able to work in Canada; however preference will be given to those able to work some days in office on our reserve based in Vancouver, close to U.B.C.
