The Yukon Council of Archives will be holding a workshop titled Archival Science and Aboriginal Identity in Whitehorse on November 3 and 4th, 2011.
The instructor is Raymond Frogner who holds a Masters of Archival Studies degree from UBC and who taught a longer version of this course last March to student librarians at the graduate School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alberta.
This workshop will concentrate on the meaning of the archival record of Aboriginal identity as it emerged from narratives of the Canadian colonial and post-colonial settlement process.
Workshop Objectives:
We think this course will be of interest to those in the heritage and culture fields, legal professionals, students, and anyone with an interest in aboriginal history in Canada.
Attached is the workshop registration form and the registration fee is $50.00. There will be several articles to read in advance of the workshop and they will be distributed to registered participants.
Please contact Lesley Buchan if you would like more information about the workshop at 667-5321 or by e-mail at yukoncnclarch@gmail.com .
